How to delete my Primary email address and add a new one.

For 20 some years I've had the same email address with Cox.net., and lately it is a chore to delete the many junk emails that I get each day. Never had that problem until recently. I've been on Cox Chat line and I get "nowhere" with these so-called support people. They keep telling me I cannot change my "Primary email" address.

I have had the same experience. I called many years ago to have my primary email deleted because it was hacked, and the so-called representative kept my email and gave me a new one. Now I am limited on what I can do since it is not the primary email. Whenever I contact Cox, they tell me I have to delete my old email. I ask them why you can't do that on your end, and they always tell me they do not have that option. What the heck! This is so ridiculous; they have no problem taking my money but can't get rid of my old email that they failed to protect from viruses and being hacked!😠

Cox no longer supports email. The account is now in the hands of Yahoo Mail. Cox can no longer PROVIDE support for email problems because of that.

The username might have Cox.net in it and may be used to sign into Cox.com but it is no more related to Cox then the username/email you use to sign into Facebook with.

Also, Cox is responsible for maintaining their systems, but most "hacks" come in from the user side. Malware, scareware, exploits and data breaches of other systems. Try looking up the email here.

      Hello

Thank you for choosing Cox.  As of September 2024, all emails have been migrated over to Yahoo.  We no longer support email, and I have provided a number to assist with any email issues you may be encountering.  You should still have a Cox login, but unfortunately, all email issues and support will be directed to Yahoo.

    Skeeter,

We would be able to assist you with this issue. Please send the email to cox.help@cox.com & we will take care of your issue. Please provide your full name & full address in that email. We will need the email address that wanted deleted as well.

There is an option to change it.  However, what's to say your new address won't be compromised as well?

     - Log onto Cox
     - Click View My Profile
     - Navigate to Contact Information
     - Click Edit
     - Edit Primary Contact Email

That didn't work. You must not have ever tried to delete your Primary email address with Cox. They tell me it cannot be done. I told them, "what man put together, man can take apart."

I tried that and all I get is the option to fix my secondary email, not the primary one I want to delete.

gmat  You're replying to 8 year old posts that were discussing a previous email system that was property of Cox.  Yahoo owns cox.net email accounts now and has a totally different email system.

Since you're wanting to change your email address anyway, why not just get a Gmail account"

Moderators close a lot of discussions, so why wasn't this one closed a long time ago?
