Helping folks with email, specifically sending email using their COX Internet Connection
I realize COX has made changes to the way they deal with email, and more specifically 3rd party addresses, however the typical user has no clue what this means.
When customers call stating that they are unable to send email via COX Internet using a 3rd party email address, why are COX telephone technicians unable to assist? The solution is simple in most cases, simply change the outgoing email server to the primary email domain, set the outgoing port to either 587 or 465, and specify to use the incoming server credentials for outgoing mail. This fixes the issue 99% of the time and should not be too difficult a concept for an Internet help desk technician to grasp.
