Gigablast - Getting less than 35% of what I'm paying for

I'm a new client, I switched from At&t after being a client for almost 10 years and I'm starting to regret that. I'm a very simple client to please, I just care about getting the speed (or at least close to) I'm paying for.

On the day of installation the technician couldn't get speeds past 450 Mbps on my connection, and that's with new cabling coming to my house, using his PDA and then using the modem provided by COX. He actually recommended I downgrade to the 300 plan, which defeats the purpose of getting gigablast in the first place. Since then I have been getting even slower speeds (less than 300 Mbps), even when connected via ethernet straight to the modem. So far support has been way worse than At&t to the point I created a twitter account just to reach support.

Currently I can't think of a single good reason to recommend COX, is my experience unique or is this your experience as well?

Yes, I am also in SoCal and they told me that our internet would be down for up to FIVE DAYS. It's amazing how hard it is to get a straight answer. I wish there was an alternative where I am.

Hi SANOA, we're sorry about the outage taking place in your area. Our maintenance teams have been in your area for a few days, and they are currently performing some network upgrades. We do not have an estimated time of repair currently, but our teams are working to restore services as quickly as possible. -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

Hi Hzla, we apologize for the unplanned service interruption taking place in your area, and I'm having this investigated further. Our network is designed and built to handle peak use in the evenings to meet the full needs of families’ demands, and this same network is available to support our customers throughout the day. In reference to other members posting about latency and/or packet loss, these are handled on a case-by-case basis. Fluctuations in latency within connecting networks outside of Cox’s network, such as gaming servers, is beyond the scope of our support. -Kevin M. Cox Support Forum Moderator

trust me, you're not the only one.  i am too a victim of this fraud.  make sure u ask them for compensation.  it's ridiculous that if u don't complain u wont get a credit for it.  those people who pay their hard earn money for cox services are getting cheap services without compensation.  it's pretty much a fraud on its own.  they have this outage notice in your cox account that keeps staying there for days.  i suggest u going back to AT&T.  My area only serves 50 Mbps for AT&T, but it's better than 10 Mbps that I'm getting when I'm paying for 150Mbps!
