Downloaded POP Messages Not Deleted from Server

I read my POP messages on my PC using a desktop client. I also read messages on my iPhone and iPad - these two are set to leave messages on the server after downloading. The desktop mail client is set to delete messages from the server after downloading. About two days ago, messages started being left on the server after being downloaded to my desktop client. This means my other devices download old messages that I have already downloaded to my PC.

What can be done to fix this? All ideas are welcome.

    Hi Jim,

    It sounds like you're wanting emails to be more synchronized across multiple devices. IMAP is generally better at keeping up with this task. Any changes you make in email on one device occurs on the others. Here is some information about IMAP: www.cox.com/.../imap-server-settings.html. Please let us know if you have any questions.
