Wireless Router?

I already have Cox Premier Internet service. The modem I'm using for Internet service, which I own, keeps dropping out and the technicians haven't been able to help with this issue.

I recently received the Cox telephone modem as a free upgrade from my landline. Would I be able to use this modem for my broadband service? If so, can I use a wireless router with it?

  • There is a good chance that you will be able to, we would need to remotely provision it for internet use instead of your current modem. Just to be certain, which model modem is the phone modem?

    Brian,

The phone modem is a Cisco model DPQ3212. I currently am using an Arris Surfboard model SB6141, which will drop the connection periodically. However, I only want to try this if the phone modem is rated for the Cox Premium service.

    Thanks!

  • Great, that should work fine for the premier service. If you would like us to provision it for you, send an email to Cox.Help@Cox.com with a link to this thread along with your home address or account number and we can take care of that for you. Just be prepared for the internet to stop working on your current modem as soon as we switch everything over. If there is a specific time frame this afternoon/evening that you would like us to take care of this, just let us know in the email.
