Why does internet go off?

Once more my internet service stopped working this morning. ( about 11:15 am) . After about 15 minutes it mysteriously came back on. This happens a lot on holidays, a lot about 1 AM, and there is never any message or reason  given by Cox in Falls Church Va. Stop with the postal mail about upgrading my service and give me the service I currently pay for!
