Voice Mail disconnected

This past Sunday, I had a tech come out to restore my phone service. Since the old phone jack wiring was not working to be restored, I was switched over to a modem. Service was restored and it is doing great. Except for one thing: apparently, my voice mail was disconnected during this process. I went online to my phone tools and went the settings. I noticed my voice mail setting was on the off setting. I attempted to switch it to the on position so I can proceed to activate my voice mail. Well, it wouldn't go the on setting. Then I emailed Cox to get instructions on how to re-activate my voice mail. The answer I got was to go to a link for instructions. I went to the link on Cox and took down the following instructions: 1-Dial *298 2-Press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish 3-Put in new pin# 4-Repeat new pin# and press Save. 5-Say full Name 6-Create new greeting or use default greeting. Well, I tried that, and none the options that I needed in the above instructions came up in the recordings. Apparently I'm missing something here. I've already emailed Cox again about this problem. I really need some help here.

    An update: my voice mail service has been restored today and I'll be credited on my bill for the time it was out. Many thanks!
