Very slow upload speeds...

I have the ultimate internet package.. My connection is wired (I've tested from other devices, and wifi also). I have no clue why but for the last 6 MONTHS or so at random times my upload speed drops from 30-40mbps to 1-5mbps.

I've literally had at least 5 techs out at my house and also on the phone for hours with Cox.

They have changed all lines and pretty much done everything they can at their end.

Any solution to this problem? :(

Has the problem always existed since having the current modem? Is there a particular application that you're trying to use your upload for?

Hey Chris, I have had a couple different modems since the whole problem has occurred. I use a program called OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) to stream live off of www.twitch.tv

Is it the program that is causing my upload speed to drop from 30mbps to 1-7mbps?

Last year I stream for 6 months with no issues with my upload speed. Then one day the problem just started occurring.

Any help would be greatly appreciated please.

I thought this might be a Twitch issue, see the following link for an explanation of the problem and page 35 for a list of impacted devices:

Chris could you please just explain to me if there is a fix or not? I don't even see a page 35 on the link you provided. What is the explanation? So confused.

A bug with Puma 6 based modem is being investigated which causes latency issues. If you're trying to Twitch stream or use some other time sensitive application such as VOIP you may see improvement by switching to a cable modem that does not utilize the Puma 6 chipset.

Does Cox have another modem I could use that doesn't utilize Puma 6 based modems?

Or could you suggest me a modem that would work perfect for what I'm doing?

    Thank you so much Chris.

At this time all of the modem we use for Ultimate run on the Puma 6 chipset. There are devices available via retail channels that would work. Many customers have reported success using the SB6183 or Netgear CM500/CM600/CM1000.
