using contour application on smartphone/tablet

I have installed the Contour application and logged in, tried getting to espn and am getting an error saying it will only work on my home network. what is the point of having an app on a tablet or smartphone if I am restricted to using it at home? seems a waste of money if I am not able to use it while travelling on a public wifi or even my work wifi? or am I doing something wrong?

    It's meant to be an extra screen to view content at home, not to take content with you. If someone only has 1 television in their home, with 5 people who all want to watch different things at once, the app on an iPad would facilitate that.

    you don't want to use the contour app you want to use the watch ESPN app
