Using a Harmony One with a Contour 2

Apparently, in order to use both an IR remote and the RF remote that Cox supplies, I need the Explorer 9865HDC Set top box. How can I replace my Arris XGIVI with an Explorer 9865HDC Contour 2 box?

  • Hi Gadget92064,

If you are looking to replace the receiver, our customers have the option to swap a receiver at our Cox Solution Store. Any recordings would be lost on the swap, and there is no guarantee the Solution Store would have a 9865 HDC Contour 2 receiver in their inventory. If that is something you'd want to look into, then https://www.cox.com/residential/contactus.html is a link to our website with a map of store locations-- you may need to enter your zip code to get a local map.

I have tried to swap the receiver, three times. Each time, I verified first that they had the Cisco 9865 HDC Contour 2 on hand. Each time, I took time off to go to a store. Each time, the person at the store said there is no such box.

So, again, HOW do I get a  Cisco 9865 HDC Contour 2 Set-top box?

  • Gadget92064,

Not all box models are available in all areas. Your local Solutions Store has probably advised you the equipment you are requesting does not exist because it is not available in your area.

They need to be trained that "does not exist" and "not currently available in this area" are NOT the same thing!

My problem is that EVERY time I make an inquiry on *this issue* I get a *different* answer. Where can I get a difinitive answer from someone with both some technical understanding and knowledge of the facts?

AND, *if* this equipment is "not available in my area", as you claim, then WHY does the store *VERIFY* that they have it ON HAND?
