upgraded phone modem - NO DIAL TONE

upgraded the phone modem to the new cisco 3212 and have connected internet and phone per the instructions.....internet working great as usual; phone has NO DIAL TONE.

nothing special, one to one swap.......phone is connected directly to the modem

any thoughts

modem and landline

    If you've connected the phone directly to the modem that makes for a simple setup to troubleshoot. Does it work by chance if you connect to the other telephone jack?
