Unstable internet connection.

In the past 2 1/2 weeks I've been experiencing unstable internet connection. I'll get connection for awhile and then the connection goes off. It's been on and off and I did re-boot the modem numerous times and it's been iffy at best. However, I'm wondering if perhaps a more updated modem would be best. A few years ago, I've had Cox replace an older model that I got from them with a better one. However, this current modem may be outdated as well. It is model# DPC3835 and it is wireless, no router. If I do need to update my modem, is it possible to order one online and have it shipped to me? What do you suggest? Maura Meade

    Hi Missym,

The modem that you currently have is it a rental modem or one that you purchased from Cox? Either way, we can drop ship Cox equipment to most areas depending on your location. Would you please provide your full address along with your full name so we can look into your issue?

    MissyM,

Would you email us a Cox.Help@cox.com so we can discuss sending out that equipment to you?

Well, after much back and forth with emails to Cox, here's what transpired: First I gave my account number to drop ship a newer modem, then I got an email saying they tested the lines and there was a system problem and a newer modem will not help and I need to have a tech come out and take care of the problem. Then I get another email from someone else who said they detected no issues since my other equipment seems to be fine. I informed them that the lights were off on my computer and I needed the problem resolved. Now it seems that my internet connection seems to be working, but I'm skeptical as to the reliability of this. Frankly, it's getting a bit irritating.
