Ultimate should have a 2TB Data Cap

Well, that's not true, all of your plans should simply be unlimited. But if you're going to be greedy, at least do it in a way that makes some sense. In what way does it make sense that ALL plans have the same data cap, when one plan is over DOUBLE the price of another? I'm obviously very displeased at the recent moves by this company, and I'm actively looking for alternatives for service and to get away before it gets worse, as I'm sure it will. Everyone knows what you're doing is a pure money grab due to lack of ability to compete with streaming media options, I'll never pay a cent for your TV service if I have to have ** like Oprah Winfrey Network, you know people hate this channel bundling nonsense but you do it anyway... greed. Don't turn your internet service into the next cable TV, it was the only thing that you provided that was of any quality. It used to be a good, fair service, and I was a happy customer. Now I can't stand your company and I want the heck out.

I am a heavy user and can easily go over 1TB, but not often do I exceed 2TB. In the past, you had the ultimate plan's data cap (when unenforced) set at 2TB, how in the world you go down as time goes forward (you know exactly what direction data use trends, and don't pretend otherwise) with the proliferation of mobile and other connected devices, what you're doing is wrong and immoral.

Make Ultimate's data cap 2TB without gouging the price, and I'll shut up, for now. Data Caps, if they exist (they shouldn't), should only increase and not decrease. Even if you do up it to 2TB, in time that will be insufficient again. That doens't matter right now, what does matter is that the benefit to Ultimate vs Starter or Essential is ever diminishing. What's the point of a fast connection if you have to tiptoe around and worry you might go over your limit in a short period of time. Fix it fast, or lose me as a customer, because I'm not putting up with this garbage much longer. The more I think about it, the better CenturyLink and other wireless options sound, and the more I despise Cox.

Why can't cable companies be good? Do you want people to hate you?

  • There shouldn't be any data caps at all. They are an archaic practice and make no difference at all. It doesn't in any way conserve bandwidth.

  • Hi escapecox, the speed of your connection does not necessarily mean you will reach your data cap limit more quickly. For example, watching a movie online will still take as long to view it whether you are on the preferred plan or ultimate plan. oh come on.  Quite often, many video players will detect the speeds of your connection, and will often send you the video in the highest quality it thinks you can handle.  So if you are on a slower connection, it might send you a medium size file, while if you are on a higher connection, it might send you a 4k file.

So, yes, it can mean that you would reach your cap more quickly.
