Twitter emails being blocked

Hi, I've read several other threads regarding emails from Twitter being blocked, and they are all locked or I'd reply to those. I am having the same issue and I don't know what to do. I cannot get into my Twitter account, and my Twitter account seems to have been hacked as I now apparently have 1200 followers that I had nothing to do with, and they are all "adult" personalities. I've tried to have Twitter send me a password reset email a million times and I get nothing. I opened a help ticket with Twitter and I didn't get those emails either. Help?!?!?

I've checked all other folders, and nothing.

Scrapper949, can you let us know if you have tried to access your email on different devices? Are you also receiving emails from others as well or are they blocked also? You can follow the steps on this page to see if you have blocked Twitter's emails. http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=7e988c90-62ba-11df-ccef-000000000000#block Let us know if this helps.

Yes, I have tried on my laptop, on my phone, on my iPad, and I've also logged straight into the Cox webmail site. I'm not being blocked from any other emails (to my knowledge). I looked at my settings on the Cox webmail site per the instructions in your link and I do not have any blocked senders.

There are several other threads on this forum with other people having the same exact issue with Twitter emails (not receiving them)...it seems that the issue is likely on Cox's end. Here is one of them: http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/16101.aspx

It is definitely not resolved...and I'm desperate here as my Twitter account has been hacked, and as such, cannot get into my Twitter account to change my email to something else. Unless I can get a password reset email to my current Cox email, I'm screwed.

Here is another thread. One of the Cox moderators (Becky) was able to duplicate the issue with her own Twitter account.

The issue is definitely not resolved...

  • Hi Scrapper949,

The issue in the link you provided was resolved in July of last year. I haven't had any problems receiving mail from Twitter since that time. If your Twitter account was hacked, it is possible that the hacker changed the email address saved in your profile for password resets. We need to confirm that your Twitter "password reset request" emails are being sent to a cox.net email address (but not received) before we can continue troubleshooting.

When I request a password reset email from Twitter, I can see that it is still my cox email as Twitter says that the email is being sent to it (and it puts in a few asterisks for security). And yes I am definitely not receiving them.

The hacker would not be able to change the email without confirmation from the original email, and since those confirmation emails are not being received by me, the email has not been changed. The hacker would have to hack into my cox email to do that, which thankfully has not happened. However, they have changed the password successfully on my Twitter account and I cannot log in. It is imperative that I am able to get the password reset emails so I can log in and secure my account. Twitter can't even help me (I tried to open a ticket with them) because I am not getting their email responses to my ticket request. They will not help me over the phone.

What was your fix for the issue, and can whatever that fix is be done again?

Something else I noticed that may or may not be related...I have "Email me replies to this post" selected on this page. I have not gotten any replies or notifications of a reply via email at all. I have just had to keep coming back to this page and refreshing it. (I checked my junk folder and the replies aren't there, either)

    Scrapper949,

Please send yourself a blank test email from your @cox.net email to the same email address. Let us know the outcome. What are your spam and blocking settings at currently in webmail?

I sent myself a test email and received it no problem.

My spam and blocking settings are currently

Delete incoming junk email automatically. This setting will remove junk email before it reaches your inbox.

Should I change that? I've had it that way for years and years without an issue. And believe me, I still get plenty of junk mail.

Well I changed my spam blocker settings to:

Tag junk email with -- Spam -- in the subject line and deliver to your inbox.

And then went to twitter and requested another password reset email. Nothing.

Are you aware if there are any message filters checked or setup on the account in the Webmail settings?
