Tuning Adapter for Cable Card in Ft Walton Beach Area

Does anyone know why they give you a tuning adapter for a cable card in FT Walton Beach Area?  I don't see any difference with in it in or out on our new TiVo.  I receive exactly the same channels.

    Depending on which device you are using, the tuning adapter allows for the viewing of switched digital channels. Most current devices support tuning adapter but if you are using an older legacy model, the device wasn't made to use this technology. What model Tivo are you using?

    what channels do you scribe to?  maybe you do watch sdv channels, but that may change and more will go sdv.
