The internet speed difference

Hi there,

My internet plan speed is 10MB upload and 100MB download. I tested the speed check in the cox website and it showed only 2MB upload and 6MB download. Do you know how to improve my speed as it is supposed to be in my plan?

Do you mean MB or Mb? MB=MegabYte Mb=MegabIt 1MB=8Mb

Also, what model modem and router do you have?

Last, have you tried connecting direct to the modem with ethernet and testing here?

  • Hi There,

I want you to enjoy the best online experience possible! The first thing to look at is your hardware. Are you using a DOCSIS 3.0 modem and a router with a Gigabit Ethernet adapter? If you subscribe to our Preferred Internet tier (or higher), a DOCSIS 3.0 (D3) modem is required in order to take full advantage of the speeds offered. If you are still using a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, it's time to upgrade.

I'm happy to provide more details about your options. Email my team at cox.help@cox.com with your full name, address, Cox PIN, and a link to this page. Learn more about Cox Certified Cable Modems at http://bit.ly/CoxCompatibleModemList.
