Terrible speeds and connection issues

I'm located in Las Vegas NV and have a connection issue. Its been bad for over a month but lately its daily and aggravating as heck. There are times I cant even bring up this forum page and facebook. We've reset modem and router....same results. No issue with our line coming in. There is definitely something on the COX end because I see posts of people with the same issues here. Here is our test results. We have the Premier package. The main issue I'm seeing from this end is the modem itself. 4x4 modems are not compatible with Premier HSI. See this list for more info on modems approved by tier of service:

We got the very modem COX told us to get not that long ago because our other modem was not compatible when we were having very similar issues a few years ago with our high speed package. YOU guys told us to get this modem. So what are you saying? Are you saying once again changes you made on your end now made our modems incompatible once again screwing your customers again? Our modem is Netgear CMD31T 4 x 4 Preferred which is on your list for preferred modems.

As you posted "Our modem is Netgear CMD31T 4 x 4 Preferred" is for Preferred (50Mbps) service, not Premier (150Mbps), which you say you have.

Best I can tell from the jumble of text posted is that you are getting 60 to 70Mbps down and about 12Mbps up.  My guess from that is you are using a WiFi "n" connection, that's the best you will do with wireless "n".

Yes, @force113, Cox did make changes over the last couple of years ... they increased the speed of Preferred and above plans.  To take advantage of the increased speed, you need two things:
    1. A modem capable of the increased speed, that means an 8x4 channel (or greater) modem for Premier and above, I would go with a 16x4 or above and nothing with fewer than 8x4 even for Preferred.
    2. Wireless "ac" for Premier or above.  The "real world" limit on "n" is about 70Mbps.  If you want to get Premier or higher speeds over WiFi, you need both a router and client that support wireless "ac".

So, it's not like Cox made changes benefiting them, not you, and obsoleted your equipment.  The changes benefited you with increased speed, now you need hardware to take advantage.
