We recently got the Ultimate plan from Cox, and since we got it we have had super slow internet and sometimes we would have trouble logging into the wifi. Is this a problem with our router or internet?

What do you mean by trouble logging in to wifi?
IE - are you connected to the wifi successfully, yet the internet itself isn't working? *OR* Are you actually unable to successfully connect to the wifi?
You modem should be good up till about 400Mbps max, and that router is a very good one. Download the netgear genie app to look for dead-spots in your house, and to check wifi signal levels/interference.
You should change your modem to one with more channels, such as sb6190, cm700 okay too.
Why should the OP change the modem ... the CM500 is Cox certified for Ultimate. It should be fine. With all the reported latency issues with the SB6190, I wouldn't recommend it at this time.
@hlowman, what speed are you getting wired direct to the modem? Also, as @grymwulf asked, can you expand on your WiFi issues?
If you are so concerned about the nonexistent "latency issues" I would suggest the Netgear cm700

Except the nonexistent latency issue actually does exist, and it affects ALL devices with an Intel PUMA 6 chip. Guess what, the Netgear CM700 uses PUMA 6 and has the exact same latency issue as the SB6190.
The SB6183 or the Netgear CM600 are the best options at this point since they both use Broadcom chips.
Except I never heard anyone who got the latency issues, I personally got the sb6190 and got a ping of 7ms

If you get any red hits at the end of it, then you have the problem like the rest of us.
We have a houseful of gamers, my wife and myself included, I just bought the SB6183 and all of our problems went away.
Yup, got problems, first thought it's a common issue, then found out my friend, who is using a 6183 does not have it, but I got a lower general latency(average for 53 tests)
