Super Slow Internet Speeds

I am getting 23Mbps upload speeds with no one home... I have not run an speed test when all of my kids are home and using their devices but this is not acceptable.  I have been a Cox customer for over 10 years, never had to change much and overall happy with the internet speeds.  But in the last few weeks it seems like I have AOL Dial Up again.  Is anyone else having this same issue?

I also don't want to call or visit a service center... I shouldn't have to for the price I'm paying for internet.  I've tried the live chat with no help.. Does anyone have a solution besides upgrade my account that I have never had an issue with that is transmitting at half the speed advertised?

I did check the connection from this end and one problem that immediately stand out is the modem itself. It looks like you've had this one for quite a long time and it is no longer suitable for the speeds you're subscribed to. I'd suggest upgrading to a DOCSIS 3.0 device and see if there is any improvement. At the very least your speeds would be doubled for no additional charge.

  • That sounds great Chris.  Since you have access to my account can you please send a new modem or have an technician send one out for me and see if it improves the download speeds. Thank You.

Modems are not provided with the service. We do have wireless gateways for lease or purchase available. If you prefer a stand alone modem they can be purchased from many electronics retailers.
