Streaming Issues

We have the High Speed internet service with the Model:DN4500B Modem. We use a Playstation 4 Vue (on the PS4 and the Amazon Fire PS4 Vue app) to stream most of our live television. A lot of times during the hours we are viewing, it will stop and buffer for a moment before starting up again. During these times my husband has found he has been kicked off playing a multiplayer game as well. We also notice that our internet does pause if we are browsing online too. (sorry, just thought of that.)  I am wondering if this has anything to do with our ISP or the Playstation Network itself. We do not have ANY issues streaming Netflix or Vudu. Has anyone else had this happen to this as well and were you able to fix it?

We have refreshed the modem so many times it has made our heads spin.

For starters, it may be useful to try signing into your http://www.cox.com account and testing your speeds with a wired connection and see if those results look good.

I honestly don't think the speed has anything to do with it since our Netflix and Vudu are not effected, but I will try that when I get home from work tonight. Our PS4 and Amazon Fire and TV are hard wired into the modem, if that makes any difference. We have even tried turning off any devices that are connected wirelessly to see if that was the issue and there were no changes.

About six months ago we had a tech out to assign ports, I think that is what he called it, since our connection was horribly bad and the tech at the time of installation did not do it and it seemed to help for a bit but now we are dealing with the glitches all over again.

From what you're describing I'm thinking the problem may not be your Internet connection and therefore something we wouldn't be able to support. We can at least check your Internet connection for you and make sure all is well with it. It may be necessary to reach out to their support and see if there is any troubleshooting they can do with this. Should a problem with the connection turn up in the course of that we can definitely investigate that possibility further.

Okay, I had a feeling it might be their network, but to have it and our internet freeze up at the same time is rather suspicious. Thank you and I will look in to it further!

It may be that something about those services is failing in such a way that it's causing problems with your connection as a whole or there is maybe some underlying problem with your connection that we need to address. Do you know what make/model modem you're using?

Does this PC have a gigabit Ethernet port?
