Sound issues with ONDEMAND?

I have a brand new LG UHD TV 4K and recently had COX come out and install cable and the Contour box. Sound is amazing when watching regular cable. Sound is not that great when watching ONDEMAND on NETFLIX on my TV. Has anyone heard of this or know what to do?

Ondemand and Netflix are two different things.  Ondemand is a Cox TV service accessed via the Contour box.  Netflix is a streaming service, accessed on you smartTV via the internet, it has nothing to do with the Contour box (I don't believe even Contour 2 supports Netflix at this time).  Which are you having sound issues with?

  • Hi PSSHP,

While I can't troubleshoot the Netflix issue, I'd like to take a closer look at the On Demand issue. Is the audio played during On Demand programs lower in volume than when watching live TV? What kind of cable connects the Contour box to the TV; component or HDMI? Do you have an audio receiver connected to your TV for surround sound?

What is your current audio output setting? To check, press the Conour button on your remote control. Then navigate to Settings --> Device Settings --> Audio --> Audio Output.

Becky - yes the audio being played while OnDemand is on - is lower in volume than when watching regular TV. HDMI connects the Contour box to the TV. I do not have an audio receiver connected to my tv for surround sound. Current audio output setting is HDMI Audio Output/Stereo

Allen - sound is in a lower volume with both OnDemand and Netflix. I seem to use the remote to increase the volume while watching both but have to turn it down by a great amount when watching regular TV supported by the Contour box.
  • Hi PSSHP,

Within the Audio Output Settings, is SAP turned on? If yes, turn SAP off and then play a show within On Demand. Is the audio still low?
