Slow connection speed

Switched back to Cox on 8/4.  Paying for 300mbps, but have yet to get above 94 down and 32 up.  I can live with the 32 up all day long and don't expect any more.  The 94 is unacceptable.  I switched from the competitor in Vegas that promised 100 and delivered 98 consistently.  When I call, I am told that it takes the servers a couple of days to reset after a new account is established.  This makes no sense to me as the server and my modem communicate at whatever speed they are directed to do so.  Neither machine has to think about it for a couple of days...  Is there not something that can be done?

My particulars are:

Arris Touchstone Telephony TG2472 Modem

Desktop is direct wired while everything else is run through an ASUS AC5300 Tri-band Router.  The wifi on the modem is turned off in that it cannot handle the number of IP address that I need served under HDCP.  (Something between 50 and 65 devices)

    I'd suggest starting off simple and testing with the router attached to the Arris gateway and see what results you get. Connecting a router to a router can be a significant problem if not done correctly and simply disabling the wifi on one device won't be enough to make them work together.

    They are effectively separated, I didn't relay on myself though I probably could have.  My main reason for this was to avoid conflicts.  Secondarily, my security system DVRs rely on an outside DDNS system to be accessible remotely.  This required some port forwarding for them and the system itself, neither of which I was comfortable with alone.  The WiFi signal and the assigning of IPs on the network are handled by the router so as not to cause a conflict.  

    My testing has included eliminating the router entirely as it is not required for this particular desktop to function being hardwired as it is.  There is not difference whatsoever.  It is always disappointing though when the first thing ISPs do is blame any problem on any equipment which is not theirs...  The problem remains that I simply am only receiving 1/3 of the speed I have been promised and paid for.

    Rest assured the goal it not to place blame on anything. When it comes to speed issues there is nothing on our end that can control that beyond the modem provisioning which appears to be correct. As for the setup you have there, connecting a router to a router is something that is technically incorrect and not something we would be in a position to support. If you're needing to use your own router you might be better serviced by using a stand alone cable modem instead of the Arris gateway. Do you know what kind of network adapter is installed in the PC you tested the speeds direct from the gateway with?
