Service not available for channels I normally watch

From time to time various channels that I normally watch are not available with an error message stating Service is Unavailable. The error message states I should call 866-961-1207 for assistance referring to code 3.1.1.2. The problem is I only watch TV late at night and do not have time to play games with the TV. If the channel is not available when I have scheduled a recording the program is not recorded. This is a big pain. Is this what I pay for in my monthly service fee? Is it the receiver? Do I need to have it replaced?

  • Shconner,

We need more information. What receiver model do you have, and is this happening on all TVs in the home on the same channels? If you channel up then back down to the channel with the error 3.1.1.2 does the picture restore with audio? What channel numbers and networks are giving this error?

What receiver model do you have? The receiver is the one provided by Cox. I believe the model is Cisco 9865HDC Is this happening on all TVs in the home on the same channels? Actually I do not know if it is happening on other TVs at the same time. I have three TVs connected with the mini receiver and one connecting the high definition TV. I have noticed that on the mini receivers that various channels have this unavailable error and it is not the same on each receiver. On the Cisco receiver it is the same but it appears on the HD channels and the non-HD channels are still available. We normally watch TV about 8 to 11 each night. We record the majority of the programs we care to watch and watch them during this time period. Therefore, it maybe days later that I find this error had occurred on that channel. If you channel up then back down to the channel with the error 3.1.1.2 does the picture restore with audio? When I find the channel I wish to view has this error I have attempted to channel up and down. Sometimes this appears to work; however, most of the time it does not work. Again if it was notice on a channel that I had recorded there is nothing I can do! What channel numbers and networks are giving this error? I only have about five or six channels which we normally watch; so I do not know if it is happing on channels I am not watching. The other night it was channel 1008 “8 News” which I normally record and watch every night. It was unavailable! Last week it was channel 1005 which was discovered when I attempted to watch the recording of “Wayward Pines” a week later. This is very frustrating to say the least. I pay a fortune each month to have the ability to watch the channels I care to see. The majority of the stuff on TV is not worth watching. I feel that I am not getting the service from Cox that I pay for. However, it is TV and is not a priority and I tend to just move on.
  • shconner,

Has a remote reset been sent to the 9865HDC receiver or hard reset addressed the error message when channeling up or down haven't corrected? We can take a closer look at how we are working on a fix. You can email Cox.Help@cox.com with your address and name on the account with a copy of this forums link.
