Series recording won't "stick"

I have dozens of programs set up to record automatically on the Contour 2 DVR. All was well until a couple of weeks ago when one program mysteriously stopped recording (OReilly Factor). If the program is tagged to record manually (Just this episode), it records.

I have deleted the program from the series and added it. When this happens the programs shows up in Scheduled but then disappear soon thereafter. Rebooted a number of time, no change.

Not sure if this is happening to other programs.

  • I've experienced the exact same thing with the Fox News Channel here in Mesa, Arizona.  After numerous phone calls and tech visits I was told the it was Fox New's fault.  Then they finally read a prepared statement that Cox is indeed having a problem with Fox News in the way Fox transmits its programming information.  They are working on it and hope to have it fixed "soon".

As a separate issue, when I go to my guide, scheduled recordings do not have the red dots that indicate they are to be recorded.  However, the names of scheduled shows are shown on my Scheduled Recordings list.  I've been with Cox for 19 years and have always had problems with their customer service, their technicians, and their equipment.

If Cox manufactured cars I would not buy one.

    ken c,

Which episodes didn't record? What are the recording settings for the show?

    Geraldoofthedesert,

What titles are not showing the dot but showing in the Scheduled Recordings list?

    OK,

I set up a series recording for the OReilly Factor. It's on the FNC at 5pm every weekday. Look at the Contour 2 Scheduled list and see the shows are set to record, all is well.

Come back some time later and check the Scheduled list and none are there, as if the series recording has been mysteriously canceled.

I then go to the channel guide and manually hit record for every show (FNC, OReilly Factor, 5pm, weeknights) and that works.

So, if the show is manually tagged to record, it does. The series record function, no go.

I apologize for the delay. Have you waited to see if the recording is actually missed? Are you setting to record specifically at 5 or is it set for any time? How about the channel, is that a specific channel or any channel?

Did not wait to see if a recording was missed, assumed if there was no red dot, no recording. Did not set a specific time or channel. Just used the voice command feature, hold the voice button, say "O'reilly Factor", select the record button. Check the Scheduled list and the shows are there as they should be. Wait for a little while, say 10 minutes, check the Scheduled list and no shows, Very strange.

Checked other Scheduled shows, doesn't seem to be a problem.

Can you search the guide without using the voice commend and set the recording? Also, can you set a show with the voice commend and see if it disappears from the schedule and still records?
