Robo Calls

What is the current status of robo call blocking?

Is it currently offered?

  • Hello, currently Cox does not offer a service like Nomorobo which can filter out robo calls.  Today we do offer features such as anonymous call rejection, selective call rejection and acceptance.  These features can be of help to filter unwanted calls coming in.

The existing tools can’t keep up with the robot calls.  When does Cox anticipate getting the tools required for services like Nomorobo?  I think it’s a simultaneous ring capability.

Yeah, the existing phone tools are not designed to work with Robo Calls! Cox has got to get up to speed with this issue. If not, what is the sense of having a landline?

    Hello R.C. and JayCeeKay,

At this time we just offer the features mentioned above such as anonymous call rejection, selective call rejection, and acceptance. I will send your feedback and/or suggestion over to the product team. Thank you.

One of the things that prevents most available blocking methods from working is that the callers use "Spoofing"

Somehow they are able to present your caller ID with names and numbers of their choosing. If you try to call them back,

you get the poor soul whose number they selected for you to see. One time they used my name and number.

I would like to see our representatives pass a law to prevent Spoofing.

  • After years of frustration and repeatedly being assured that suggestions are sent to the fabled "product team" (whatever that means) we're still left to fend for ourselves when it comes to taking control of our privacy.  Clearly nothing is coming down the pike from Cox to deal with this so may I request that Cox researches retail devices that offer better blocking features and recommend something that would work with their system?  Doing so would be far more helpful than the false hope that our frustration with the criminal harassment industry that clearly has the implicit go-ahead to annoy paying customers is being heeded with anything more than lip service..

I also painfully tried the Call Blocking feature that was presented as $1/line / month.  Upon reviewing my bill, I was charged $4 / month for both of my home lines.  I attempted to give it a try and quickly reached the 30 call number limit.  The 30 number limit was not shared with me during my registration with Cox...

Not only is the limit ridiculously low, trying to manipulate the service on a phone is a nightmare.

Cox is far behind the times / technology on addressing Spam, RoboCalls, Telemarketing and Spoofing issues plaguing their customers.

This is my post to Cox, but I see that I am far from alone in my frustration with the lack of tools to block unwanted calls on my home lines.

My next step will likely be to drop my home phones and use cellular phones that do address this more effectively.  This has been a very successful, less expensive solution used by many of my friends and family.

Cox, please listen and do something!
