Ports Filtered or Fast Speeds

Hello,

We currently have the Cox Internet Ultimate residential package and we get 300Mbps but we have filtered ports which I don't like.  It seems if I want the ports unfiltered then I have to move to a Cox Business package, but the Cox Business Internet 10 package, which is the same price as our Cox Internet Ultimate residential package, has our data rates drop to 10Mbps, but our ports are unfiltered.  Is there a way to get unfiltered ports with a decent data rate (doesn't necessarily need to be 300Mbps but 10Mbps is way too low for streaming and gaming) for a reasonable price?

Thanks!

What port(s) do you want unblocked?  Are you trying to run a server?  If so, it's against the TOS anyway "You may not operate, or allow others to operate, servers of any type or any other device, equipment, and/or software providing server-like functionality in connection with the Service, unless expressly authorized by Cox."  If it's a gaming or streaming issue, none of the blocked ports should effect that.

Cox only blocks 11 ports, SMTP, HTTP, NetBIOS and SQL.  What do you need open?

  • Thanks for the response.  I'd like all ports unblocked and I'd like to run many servers as I did without issue at my previous ISP.

While Cox "only" blocks 11 ports, there are many ISP's that block 0 ports.  I'd like to have that freedom back.

Perhaps I should rephrase my question.  Is there a Cox Business package that has a reasonable price and reasonable bandwidth?  $100/month for 10Mbps down/2Mbps up is not acceptable.
