port forwarding on Cisco DPC3825

Has anyone ever had an issue with port forwarding not working on the Cisco DPC3825?  I have tried all the different option and can't get to my camera while remote on the internet.  I think it is probably something to do with the Cisco DPC3825.  Can someone from Cox check the firmware version to see if there is a more recent version?  My current version is below.  I work in IT with networks all day and understand how to forward and have done it before.  Just can't get it to work on this router/modem.

The firmware currently installed is the most current version offered. If you haven't yet you may need to assign a static IP address outside of the gateway's DHCP range to get it to work. Some routers don't permit forwarding to an address in the known DHCP pool.
