Poor internet connection...

Hi! We just transferred our service to a new home only a few miles away from our previous home. I had great connection in my previous home, but now in this home I am constantly kicked off the network and can't complete my work. When I look at my wireless connection, it states the speed is 300 Mbps, so this doesn't make any sense. How can I get back to the performance I used to have previously? Thanks! Erika P.S.     Every home will be different when it comes to wireless networks. It can depend on the lay out of the house or possibly the location of the router. I'd like to take a look at the modem.
