Pixillation issues on specific channels

I am having noticeable pixilation and occasional frame loss on several channels in the Los Angeles area (Palos Verdes office). 1028, 1029, 810 thru 814 are the ones that have a lot of problems. Had a service call yesterday, and no improvement. it's been going on several months now, and it's really getting old. I have a Tivo Roamio with an Mcard.

  • Hi Oscardeuce,

Is your TV with the TiVo Roamio the only TV connected to Cox cable? Do you also have a Tuning Adapter connected?

I have a TV and projection system, but they are both connected to the one Tivo box. I have a Tuning Adapter as well, and it was checked out during the service call.

I am inclined to believe this is an upstream issue, as pretty much all other channels are fine. If I had the older Tivo unit, I could just get those channels over the air; I have great reception. However, the newer boxes won't mix OTA and cable channels. Considering how few other channels I watch, it may be time to pull the plug and go to OTA and streaming.

Tune to the channels that are pixelating, and leave it on those channels for 15min to 1/2 hour

Then Go to Settings & Messages > Account & System Info > TiVo box Diagnostics

What are the following values for each of the channels:

Signal Strength: (needs to be greater than 75%, 80-90% would be better)
    SNR: (should be 30-40dB)
    RS Uncorrected: (should be 0)
RS Corrected: (should be less than a few hundred and not increasing)

If the values do not fall within the above range, you need a tech out to check and improve your signals.

On most channels, signal strength is in the mid 90s, and SNR is around 38. Uncorrected is 0.

On 1028, which of course is a favorite, signal strength is 67, SNR is 28, and uncorrected is 121,425,661 and counting. Corrected is 0.

When the tech was here, the signal strength was running 95 on that channel, and SNR was 37.

I am in Phoenix, AZ and I too am seeing very large numbers of RS Corrected, (1000's to 10,000s and increasing) and even some large number of RS Uncorrected.

I am starting to think this it not a local issue and most likely relates to the post I made in early June, it seemed to get corrected within that week. but now is back.
