Pixeling and "Temporarily off the air" issues

Lately I've been having a horrible time with various channels above 25 pixeling or I get the notice that they are "temporarily off the air".  However if I unplug the entire unit or disconnect the power cord from the cable box, it's like it resets and I can view the channels.  For as much as I'm paying, you'd think I shouldn't have to do this multiple times every night.

Any suggestions what I can do?

I have had same problems mostly in evening or weekends.  Have changed boxes. It didn't help.  I've had service with Cox for a long time and can honestly say i have never had as many issues as am experiencing now.

Ditto, ditto, and ditto!!!  I'm not going to call just to have them tell me to unplug to reset or that they'll remotely reset OR they'll send someone out which will cost me!  We have 3 boxes and at random times each will act up, I'd like for them to explain that away!  Thanks Donna2015a for giving me some peace of mind that it's not just me or my equipment.

    Hi Whila and Donna2015A,

Pixelation usually indicates an issue with the signal. Are there any known splitters or amps connected to the cable line coming from the outlet going to the back of the box? Are all TVs in the home experiencing this problem?

In my case, there are no known splitters or amps.  Two of the three boxes/tv's are having the same issues.  The third tv isn't used as much as the other two, so I can't say on it.  The issues we have don't happen at the same time on both units.

  • Hi Whila,

If the coax connections are verified to have no damage or loose connections to the wall and back of the receivers, then we may need to reserve a follow-up technician appointment to further diagnose where the degraded picture is coming from and pinpoint a fix.
