Phone refused to hang up

When I hung up on my last call, phone refused to disconnect. Line is 'in use', number of last call still displayed. Cannot get Cox to do a remote reset. Any ideas? Is phone just broken?

    What happens if you pull the phone line out of the wall?  That should reset everything. Borrow your neighbors phone for 2 minutes and have several people call you.  Then you will know if it is a Cox problem or time to buy a new phone.

    Hi badphone,

    There is a modem connected for your phone service. Have you tried disconnecting the phone cord from the modem for 30 secs to see if that helps?
