Paying for 100mbps but only getting 10-15

I've tried plugging in my pc directly to the modem through an ethernet cable, and still get the same results. I've tried resetting the modem and router about 15x at this point (with every device connected to them turned off). I've tried different cables. I bought a brand new wifi adapter, top of the line, still the same results. I've tried the live chat but the 2 people I dealt with didn't do anything but reset the modem. It was working fine a few days ago.

Maxthedog, what model modem & router do you have?  Can you post the signal levels, try 192.168.100.1.  What speed were you getting a few days ago?

I have a Linksys EA6350 router and a DPQ3212 Cisco modem (from Cox). How to I get the signal strength using that ip? I was getting between 50-100mbps a few days ago over wireless, never tried it through ethernet.

Actually, from the manual, the address is 192.168.0.1. Enter it into the address bar of your browser. Should bring up a login / status screen which contains the signal levels. I am going by the Cisco manual as I don't have a unit to test with. Testing wired direct to the modem will eliminate WiFi and the Linksys router from the problem. You never know, something new could be causing interference with your WiFi slowing it down. Which WiFi band are you using (2.4 or 5GHz)? Have you tried switching bands? Have you tried switching channels within a band?

I tried that IP, but it didn't work.  The modem was provided by Cox, so maybe only they can access it?  I have 2.4 and 5 both enabled and I'm using a wifi detector to pick the band with the least traffic.

Edit: I googled the modem and found someone mention this ip 192.168.100.1, which worked. Here's a screenshot of the power levels: http://imgur.com/cQtTyjr

Power levels look very good.  I would try a test wired direct to the modem.  That will isolate the issue to either the cable line/modem or the router.

I just tried a wired connection directly to the router, still only getting between 10-20mbps. It actually seems faster on wifi, for some reason.

What happens if you try connecting directly to the modem instead of the router?

That's what I meant. Connecting directly to the modem the speeds are the exact same as to the router. It's really weird and I've had this issue in the past, too.

I think we should do some more investigating, can you email us at cox.help@cox.com and include the account information. Thanks!
