Outlook can't connect to the server

I haven't been able to get Outlook to retrieve my email since Dec. 8th. I contacted tech support last night and was told "Outlook is having a problem connecting to some email accounts." That's it... the whole answer. I asked if there was a solution and was told "not at this time." I have two emails and one is fine and the other is not. The continuing error is "Can't connect to the server" It's not a user/password issue. Hard to believe this is an Outlook problem as suggested by the tech support. Anyone else having problems with their email not being able to connect to the server?

Hi! Have you tried logging into the Cox website with your Cox user id and password? If not, please give that a try and see if you're able to retrieve the email that way. If you are, you may want to try and delete and then re-add the email address that's having the trouble. Let Outlook select the settings automatically please.

I sure wish the tech support person I chatted with would have suggested that and saved me DAYS of frustration! She said there was nothing that could be done right now.

Thats because a lot of the password were changed when Cox had to move their email server off their network and use a backup on someone else network. Ever since then, TLS hasn't worked. The moderators seem to have been told not to mention anything about it or are actively hiding it. I would suggest using a different email carrier, IE gmail. IMO Cox email is no longer safe.

  • It is constant issues with connection, but COX still charge everyone high backs, so I guess they don't care as long as they can make their money

  • @Awful service for High price,

Rather then keep the troubleshooting behind the scenes, could you or any moderator comment on what happened to cause Cox email outage and why someone of Cox's email servers are no longer on Cox? I understand you have to talk on behalf of Cox, but give us SOMEthing! Please?

In a time when Yahoo just reported over a billion hacked accounts, it's not prudent to ignore a major email outage. If Cox was NOT hacked, someone needs to come forward and say so because the speculation is building.
