On Demand Shows lose sound, picture, freeze

While watching shows, they lose sound, freeze, lose picture. I can only stop and restart to resume. If I wait, it resumes further on as though it kept playing. It happens over and over, sometimes seconds after resuming. Driving me nuts.... Any fix for this? Tried a restart of system... no good.

Is the cable straight from the wall to the receiver or is there a splitter? Do you have issues on all TVs or just one? What titles are you playing?

We only have one tv set up for on demand. No splitter. When watching major network shows (Bull on CBS, Castle on ABC) have not noticed a problem. When I watch Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel, this happens every time. Can't recall if it has happened on other networks at the moment.

  • MadDogKat,

When did this start happening, and is it repeated on the network channels as well? I would recommend unplugging the power first, and verify the coax connections from the wall and receiver aren't loose, then reconnect the power.

If the degraded quality continues, we may need to reserve a field technician to diagnose where the trouble is happening.

This does not happen with major network shows, so don't think it is a cable issue (no issues with two shows watched on ABC and CBS and two series watched on FOX). It happened with several episodes on both HD and regular Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel (I have to watch regular episodes as I am occasionally unable to access HD episodes I have been watching after an extended pause or an attempt to rewind... when I try to restart it says program unavailable for access...very irritating. Will not let me have access to the show even after a day passes...but this is another issue that occurs on all channels). The program will either be mute or break up and go black. I sometimes have to stop and restart several times to regain show with sound. It is apperantly still running as time passes on the show if left running blank.

I am out of town right now, so can not test other shows, but will upon my return next Wednesday. Still appreciating the trouble shooting...
