Not obtaining new Premier download speed of 150Mbps

I have bypassed my router with the Ethernet cable.  Both my PC and modem indicate a 1 Gbps full-duplex connection between the modem and PC.  Both PC and Modem have rebooted.  The modem signal and S/N levels look nominal in my Cisco DPQ3212 DOCSIS 3.0 modem.  I see 8x4 channel bonding.

However, I'm only getting around 90Mbps down, when the Premier service is now rated up to 150Mbps.  A DOCSIS 3.0 modem with 8x4 channel bonding should handle 150Mbps down.

Provisioning issue?

  • The problem turns out to be my PC.  A newer PC had no problem reaching the top rated download speed.  It also revealed an issue with the firmware in my router.  Now, I've got to figure out what's limiting the speed on my PC.  The Ethernet interface shows 1.0Gbps , full-duplex and is running on the latest driver.

Would you be able to try connecting directly again and testing? Also which operating system are you using?

How long ago did the package upgrade in your area?  When Cox upgraded mine from 100-150 about a year ago, it took nearly a week before I started seeing those speeds on my end.

    Hello Chris:

I'm running Vista Business 32-bit.  A re-test yielded the same results.  I have previously seen up to 102 Mbps down on this PC.  A test in safe-mode yielded about the same results.

Cox NEVER delivers what they advertise.  I have 300/30 and this is what I get consistently:

    Start
     Cox
    Net
    Download
    Speed
    Upload
    Speed

    Latency
    Your IP
    Address

    Cox Market
    Sun Aug 14 4:47 PM Yes 92 Mbps 33 Mbps 10 millisec 68.98.92.199 Phoenix

And, this is the best part, I had the 150/20 packager and got 70/20.

  • Hi jfaletra,

I'm sorry to learn of the speed issues you've encountered. Was that a wired or wireless test result?

    Thank you,
