NOMOROBO

I am informed that Cox does not support nomorobo and that it is therefore unavailable to me.  I find this to be very troubling.  When coupled with the fact that, when the power goes out so does my phone, I am finding Verizon to be tempting.

While our phone system isn't compatible with Nomorobo I did look at your eMTA and see it has the optional battery backup installed in the event of a power failure. This will prevent any loss of phone service during a power outage if you're using phones that don't require power themselves.

You should have a battery backup for your phone that Cox provides,  it would be located in your Modem. If the power goes out again UNPLUG the  power cord and the battery  should bring back a dial tone to your phone

Actually there's no need to unplug anything. The standby power (if the battery is equipped) is just there however it will only provide power for phone service in order to conserve power. Note however your phone will also need a power source if they usually require power such as cordless phones for example.
