No release dates displayed for Movies with Contour

When I browse through all the HBO or other movies on Demand, I see 400+ movies, but the release DATE of the movie isn't shown on Contour.  I used to have an older Cox DVR (Motorola DCH3416) which did display these dates.

That was very helpful.  Now I just have to guess it the movie was released in 2015 or 1995!  Was this intentionally dropped in Contour, or some way to get it back?

Secondly, wouldn't it be nice to filter (sort) the view by release date?  I'd just like to browse through recent HBO releases, not all action or all drama etc.

Thank you for reporting this to the design/development team.  One more refinement suggestion to note:

Mark, you should not have to click the "Info" button as you mentioned to view the release date.  On Demand  Contour (and older ROVI software) included the release date on the FIRST line of the display to the right.  Why ask the user to click on "info" for each title they are browsing through, then click "C" to go back and then click down arrow to the next title?  That's dumb.

When it's included with the title line, the customer can just continue down with the down-arrow button, movie to movie.  That's saves 3 clicks per movie.  Much better design!

Summary:  Include release date in first line title info.

The movies will display the release year once you select the movie you want then press <Info>. It will give you the year along with a brief description of the movie. I have checked the HBO app as well. There app does not give any info about the movies at all. I hope this information was helpful.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Mark.  That works fine for the PAY-FOR $5.99 or $7.99 movies offered by Cox.  However, the release date is NOT available anymore for HBO or Showtime premium movies (which I already pay a monthly fee for).

Any idea why that feature was dropped?  How can I get it back?

Also, it's really impractical to manually browse through 200+ drama movies looking for releases in the last  2 or 3 years.  Sort feature is sorely needed.

    Hi John2222,

I've shared your feedback with our product and marketing team. Hopefully this feature will be implemented in one of the future upgrades.
