No power to the cable box

We unplugged our cable box for wood floor install. We hooked everything back up and the cable box does not have power.

cord is inserted and reinserted several times. Outlet was tested by plugging in other items and is functioning. Unplugged and replugged in separate box upstairs and it rebooted fine.

Any idea as to why there would be no power?

Hi No power to cable box,

This sounds like an unusual situation. Are you able to test the box at a different outlet to see if you get a response from it?

  • Thank you for the suggestion Renee...went to several different rooms...no luck. Just can't believe it died after unplugging it

I have found a main point of failure is how the power socket is connected to the box's case. Over time the electrical contacts can become lose and pushing it in normally to reconnect it can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

One last thing you might check is that you are using the right power cord. If everything was disconnected for the construction, it's possible a similar power cord got mixed up.
