New seasons don't record

Why don't shows continue to record season to season? I have to set a new recording every season and it's frustrating. I missed an entire season of my favorite show because I forgot to set a new recording. I didn't have to do this with Uverse, even if the show changed days or times. My frustration with Cox is every increasing!!
