New Netgear modem

I hooked up the new modem and I can't get internet or phone any suggestions?

    I'm told that you need to call Cox and they have to do something on their end to get it up and working.  I don't know squat, but that's what my wiser friends just told me.  It's not as easy as just changing the equipment.

    net does not have a phone modem which cox provides if you have cox phone
