My connection is slow

Had my Preferred account for a few months.  Speed has always seemed slow.  Started using the Cox Speed Test and the tests consistently show download of 2-3 MPS and upload of 3-4 MPS (which is backwards from expected).  I have rebooted the modem and the WiFi.  several times, Connected directly to the Modem and still the speed is the same.  1 out of 10 times, the speed will be over 30MPS.  I realize Preferred is for speeds up to 50MPS but I thought it would be way faster.  What speeds should I expect?

    I looked from this end and everything appears to be as it should up to the modem itself. It does appear you had a good test results on 1/23. Do you recall what you did differently then?
