Missed Recordings

Does anyone have any information on why my new Contour is missing recordings when the show in question has a priority setting of #1?  I am so frustrated by this.  All I want to do when  my kids go to bed is have my ONE FREAKING HOUR to myself and watch General hospital.  There is nothing more infuriating than when this stupid system doesn't work.  It has happened 4 times now.  And isn't this supposed to record 6 shows at once???  Our system we had before Contour worked FINE thank you very much.  I have a tech coming SUPPOSEDLY today to help me, but of course he is now 30 minutes late and the tech support I talked to yesterday was BRAIN DEAD.  I have seen a couple of old threads about this but there didn't appear to be any resolution.

Just more info, I cannot pinpoint exactly what show is interfering because the recorded shows do not show what time they aired.  Also, this is a series recording, not a manual recording.

Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

He just left.  He really had no answer.  We only have 30% left of our hard drive and he suggested that may be the problem BUT wouldn't it say if it ran out of space?  It doesn't say that - it says that it conflicted with another high priority show.  He offered to swap out the box but then we lose all of our shows.  I opted to keep our box for now and document when it malfunctions.  This is a huge FAIL on Cox's part IMO.  If my husband would let me, I would switch to satellite.

  • Hi Buddgirrl,

I know how upset I'd be if my DVR failed to record my favorite show, so I apologize this is happening. What time does General Hospital air? What other recordings are scheduled at the same time as General Hospital? Are you recording new episodes only, or new episodes and repeats? Is the series set up to record SD or HD? Is someone watching live TV while General Hospital is recording? While it's possible this could be a space issue, the DVR seems to be pointing to a priority issue. Let's first investigate that angle.

    Hi Becky,

General Hospital airs at 1 pm.  There is no other series that specifically comes on at 1 pm.  I record kids' shows for my daughters that air at all different times so sometimes they may come on at 1pm or 1:30pm and sometimes not.  I was not able to see what specifically conflicted with General Hospital the last day (last Fri) it didn't record because the recorded shows do not show the time they aired, only the date.  I have it set to record first runs and repeats.  It records in HD and no one is watching TV while GH is on.  Any help you can provide would be MUCH APPRECIATED!  Thank you!

  • Hello buddgirrl,

In the Record Options of GH Series Recording, what option is selected for the series under 'save option'? Is it set to 'Until space is needed' and is Keep set to 'all episodes'?

    Hi Dustin,

It's set to keep until "I delete."

    Thanks,

    Shandra

  • Buddgirrl,

Was the GH programmed on the Host DVR or the client? I would recommend deleting the series, and recreate the GH series manager on the Host DVR after a hard reset to the Host receiver.

  • buddgirrl,

Please report your findings after these steps.

    Thank you,

  • Please read my latest post to the forums. I live in Surprise and record Days of Our Lives every day. Nothing has been recorded this week and I have gone through the same "stuff" I have rebooted, reset the recording, and on and on. Has your problem gone away?

It hasn't skipped since I originally posted.  But I have been out of town since Thur so I will see when I get home tomorrow!
