Minibox instructions do not show how to hook up with my existing DVR.

How do you hook up the DVR to record now that the cable connection goes into the minibox?  Do I need another connection?  Please advise.

What kind of DVR do you have ... Cox DVR, Tivo, other 3rd party DVR.  What make/model?  How is it connected now?  If it's a Cox DVR, you don't need the minibox, it will work as is.  If it's a Tivo, you need a cable card, not a minibox.

I know, wees, just didn't want to get into more detail until the OP posted what he/she is trying to do.  My crystal ball isn't working too good this afternoon

  • Hi Lvfaz,

If you are referring to a personal DVD-recorder used like a VCR, use the below picture for reference when connecting the mini-box:

    Does this help?

Replying to a post that had a drawing on how to hook up a vcr, from your drawing, there is not a proven way to use the remote that came with the vcr.  Much like the remote that came with my tv, it also just another " brick" like the rest of the tv stuff I have.  I bet you have a number of "boxes" cox can sell me to make my stuff function.  Guess also we are not aware of the federal law that state " in part " that if you sell a product/s & you also required the purchage of another product from your company to make that first item function, the item/s must be provided FREE. There has been many class actions on this very same issue.  Guess cox will be next.  I can use the $$$$_

Is there a method that a person can connect two (2) item to the mini box, it does have two connect points?  If not why not?  Roger

i have over $ 4000.00 of sound / video equipment attached to my system, you will just make my system nothing but a bunch of BRICKS.

I waited over 5 years to have cox in my house, now all it does is **.  Just cannot wait till COMCAST GET HERE/. The paper work is all ready in process, as your dropped customer keep piling up that means that many more people signing up to add another Tv / internet / telephone signing up to get rid of cox & add Comcast as a provider for the PHOENIX, AZ. What DVR are you using?  If it's a Cox DVR or one that supports a cable card, like Tivo (other than series 2), no minibox is needed.  Otherwise, coax analog output of the minibox to coax input of the DVR.  The DVR must be set at the same channel as the switch on the minibox (3 or 4) and the minibox used to tune channels.
