Mini box craziness

I have the TV Economy plan but the only thing coming in on my mini box is the TV Starter.  Technical support on the phone said that mini boxs do not get economy. I would have to upgrade my packages and keep the SAME MINI BOX and then economy channels would show up on that same box. Is that correct.  Seems so odd. 

Also, first technician I talked to yesterday said it was due to an outage. Then the guy today said to  upgrade my package. Two very different stories.

    The Mini-box is only designed to get the Starter or Essential tiers, and since Economy is a mix of multiple tiers, it won't receive all channels on Economy. You will need an Advanced receiver to get all channels in your Economy package.

  • Not really confusion but total lack of customer service on cox's part to explain that our channels would change to nothing on our mini box when we lowered our package but we would actually get our package with a other receiver in the living room. and then tried to tell us it was an outage. With cox when all else fails use the outage excuse. Would have loved to know this before all the trouble shooting and back and forth. In hindsight this is no biggie. It is a kids Tv. Thankfully his tv gets more with an antenna in the attic and the roku then what cox offers for that mini box. This weekend I can return that mini box with a smile :-)

  • Actually we received channels like Disney on our mini box when we had a higher package. Same mini box. Two weeks ago we lowered our package and disney...regular disney and much more disappeared off that SAME mini box. Now to get the missing channels on that SAME MINI BOX...I have say give me my old package pack and basic disney reappears! Nope. I get more with antenna and roku then that  mini box. No stress but hilarious to return a mini box that is free right now. No need for it.  

  • So we had a higher package and lowered it. The mini box never moved out the room. Same mini box. Because that mini box doesn't get economy I have to raise my package with that same mini box to get the economy channels I am paying for. Makes no sense and that is not getting a better receiver..that is the same receiver. Same mini box we have had for months when the package change was weeks ago.

    I agree; when you downgraded to TV Economy, we should have clearly explained how the change would affect the channel lineup on the mini box. It sounds like we dropped the ball in this case, and I wholeheartedly apologize! We should have made it clear that the mini box would only receive the TV Starter channels, while your digital receiver would receive the full TV Economy lineup.

    TV Economy includes the following channels: all TV Starter channels, the Faith & Values Pak channels, the Music Choice channels, AMC, Animal Planet, BET, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery, E!, Food Network, Fox News, FX, FXX, Galavision, GSN, History, HLN, Lifetime, MSNBC, National Geographic, Nickelodeon, POP, Syfy, TCM, The Weather Channel, TNT, TruTV, TV Land, Unimas (Louisiana), USA, and WGN America.

    I think I have a little understanding, I have basic cable , which I'm assuming is the economy package which I used to get up until the last two weeks.  I get more channels on my clear tv antennae hookup, which I have had to do because of no cabl. 

    We aren't experiencing any weather problems or anything. Just not very happy paying for something I'm not getting. I can't even get anyone on the phone.  No help at all

    People use the term basic cable differently and this might not be the actual package you are in billing for. I suggest checking your statement to confirm and reviewing the channel line up available online for your market. If you are not getting channels that you are in billing for, we can help. The first thing we will need to know is what message do you get on the screen when you tune to the channel.
