Managing unwanted numbers / blocked callers?

It is 2016 and I find it really hard to believe that I need to go to the phone keypad to manage the blocked numbers on my account. I had to open a new post since the other ones about blocking robocalls and unwanted numbers seem to have been locked.

Can we not have a web interface -- maybe even a simple selection of the unwanted numbers from our call history and a "Block it" button?

The insanity of having to manage this list (of max 30 numbers!) *manually* is bad enough, but requiring us to do it via the handset is truly sadistic. More than half of the time, I give up since I just can't deal with waiting through the prompts. No, you CANNOT dial during the prompts without the system getting confused and having to start all over. And, no, you cannot add multiple numbers in a row. You get to do them one at a time.

Other phone and internet services are sending us email all the time about switching and consolidating. I have been a Cox customer for a long time and have been happy with the other services, but managing all of these unsolicited calls is driving me to look elsewhere. It looks from this forum that I am not alone.

Can Cox personnel comment on any plans for fixing these issues and making this service actually usable?

The shortcomings of Cox phone service caused me to look elsewhere 1 1/2 years ago, we use Google Voice which has excellent spam blocking tools. Never looked back and extremely happy with my decision.

There are many, many threads here asking similar questions, usability of selective call blocking, availability of simultaneous ring supporting nomorobo, etc. There was even a thread a year ago "PHONE FEATURE WISH LIST FOR THE HOLIDAYS 2015" ... no comments from Cox mods except addressing # of rings before VM. Of the two choices for a response, I think slim is optimistic and the none will be the operative word. If you need spam blocking, IMHO, you have to look elsewhere.

I agree.  The phone company I switched from recently, PhonePower, and the one a few years before that, Vonage, both had the ability to mark any recent call to be blocked in the future.

Cox would be providing a great service to their customers if they had a web interface to block calls.  I hope they are listening as the *60 is not very friendly and very outdated.

I switched to Cox phone because I thought they would have the latest and greatest features so slightly disappointed now.  Although, I do like their voice to text that others have been doing for a few years.

Spam callers are getting more sophisticated and scary.  There are fake Sheriff calls (demanding money for missed jury duty), fake "we have your wife/daughter/son" scares, technology (Windows primarily), etc. that are getting away with all kinds of abuse and theft.  Please COX, please provide some sort of updated way to eliminate these calls.

but, more to the point, why doesn't Cox support 'nomorobo' ??? I just switched from Verizon, where I enjoyed spam blocking with nomorobo.  The FCC has endorsed nomorobo.  My Cox business account has the duplicate ring feature that nomorobo requires, but not my cox residential acct.  The Cox option to block individual numbers is just ridiculously useless ... spammers fake their numbers and never repeat the same one.  The Cox option to block calls who block called ID is equally useless since spammers spoof the caller ID.

Cox should support nomorobo .. I see forum requests for this going back over 3 years.  Why ignore your customers?

There used to be a way to see the list of (only 30!) blocked call numbers online. Now I can't even find that, or any mention of it in any of the help articles or support forums. I guess that was just to convenient for the customers? What's going on Cox - why do you make this feature so difficult? I agree with the previous poster, listening to the 30 numbers and adding/deleting them manually is a joke.....and we MUST HAVE NOMOROBO! If I don't see something from Cox in the next 30-60 days, I'm either getting rid of the landline or switching to Vonage or Google Voice. I can't stand the robo calls....it's just ridiculous.
