Latency Issues

I started experiencing odd latency issues yesterday and I'm hoping to get some insight as to what it might be and how I should proceed. This seems to be intermittent, latency will look good for an hour or two and then I will randomly start getting really high ping times.

Here is a sample of what I'm experiencing using the IP of the first hop (Outside my Network) on a trace route. Normally it stays between 8-12ms.

Everything to the Router (192.168.0.1) and to the modem (192.168.100.1) looks good.

I have tried rebooting the modem and router several times.

    I just installed a new modem (Netgear CM600). Perhaps it was my modem causing the issue. I'm going to continue to monitor things.
