Kindle internet connection lost

My Kindle Fire HD has lost its internet connection. The icon for my wi-fi modem says it is out of range, even though the Kindle is sitting my desk next to the modem. I have tried restarting both the modem and my Mac to no avail. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Are you able to get an internet connection on other devices? If so, you may want to try a reset of your Kindle Fire. We can look at your equipment to see if there is an issue if all of your devices are being affected by this issue.
