jvc minibox

I have several mini-boxes installed in my home and working fine - attached to Sharp, Samsung and Visio TVs.

I've just replaced a Sharp TV with a JVC TV (both non-HD) and while the picture and sound work fine, I'm unable to get the universal remote that came with the min-box to program to turn the set off like before.  The normal process included in the instructions does not turn the TV off.

Can you tell me how to make this happen?
