iPhone6 Setup for Email

Hi, I want to set up my iPhone 6S for Cox email.  The steps I found to do this say I must:

1) Go to add a mail account

2) Specify "Other"

3) Put in you account name, email address, password

4) Hit next

I get an error back stating, "The IMAP server "imap.cox.net" is not responding.  Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field."

I hit OK and I am now on the details page.  The host name that is in the Incoming Mail Server is "imap.cox.net".  That was automatically filled in for me.  I know my connection works because I can get to other websites.  I know my password is correct because I am on this forum with the same password.

I try it again (hitting next). I get back this time another error: "Cannot Connect Using SSL.  Do you you want to try setting up the account without SSL?  Yes or No" Personally, I don't care what encryption is used, but I would like encryption.  Since it doesn't seem to work with SSL,

I reply for the purposes of setting up/troubleshooting by replying "Yes".  I get back after "verifying" the error message again, "The IMAP server "imap.cox.net" is not responding.  Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field."

I don't want to use POP, but I tried that as well and failed with the same message.  Is there another name for the IMAP server?

Any suggestions or is this a lost cause?

Jim

Same problem as above. Apple support no help. Apple blames Cox. COx support no help. Cox support just reports the obvious: "We are having problems with email."

This problem is CHRONIC. It is never fully adressed or solved by Cox.
