Internet Data Limits

I don't have a question. I just wanted to voice my opinion on how disgusted I am by this usage data limits scam you guys are running. You already charge a lot for the internet service and now you want to cap how much of your service I can use. I mean we have data limits on our phones and now we have limits on our home networks. Are we supposed to just stop using the internet? It is 2017 and everything is on the internet now. It literally takes just one or two days to go over your limit. The size of downloads is immense now and they increase every year. Am I supposed to just not download anything so that I won't incur additional charges? I mean you only give 1tb? I reach about 90% of that every month. Now this month I have gone over so I get to expect more charges on my account and I now have to stop everything from updating and completely change my daily activities because i could potentially go over again. And I have to do that for 15 more days. And then the only options you provide is to tack on an additional $30 for 500GB or I can get the unlimited plan for an additional $50 per month. When I signed up for Cox I had TV and unlimited internet. Then I cut out the TV because you jacked up the price and I was not even using the TV service. So I just had the unlimited Internet service. Then you slapped on a limit to the internet service and raised the price of the unlimited service to $140 a month. That is ridiculous and the only reason it was done is because of the monopoly you have in every town. I truly hope for the day that another company starts up and forces you to compete for customers. Until then just know that I am not a happy customer and will not be a loyal customer. The second a new company shows up I will leave and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

  • The purpose of the Cox Internet Forum is to allow customers to discuss technical topics related to residential Cox Cable, Telephone and High Speed Internet services with other customers.  The cap does not slow or limit the connection and will only affect a very small percentage of our customers. Hopefully the cap will not affect you.  For assistance, please read more about this at www.cox.com/datausage.

I understand what this forum is for. But since Cox doesn't care what their customers think this is the only place I can put this for you guys to see. I've seen a lot more people on here complaining about this data limit **. And it actually affects more people than you think. As I'm sure you are aware people are cutting their cable and switching to streaming services. Well streaming services use data. And depending on how many people are in your house it could be a decent amount. Then on top of that we have huge downloads. Apps and devices updating, Game and movie downloads. Games updating. Personally, I went over my data cap because my games had 4K updates and then I bought some digital games. But since Cox is a greedy company, I'm not supposed to download my digital purchases. I'm supposed to try and spread my updates and downloads across a few months. So when you guys say that your data cap only affects a small percentage i'd like to know where your numbers are coming from and if the people making these numbers up are taking into account the growth of digital content sizes. Data caps will be your company's downfall. More and more people are going to switch due to them exceeding the data limit every month just doing casual things. Data limits were not needed at all. These are personal accounts being used for homes. Not wifi hotspots.
